Davis Cemetery
Fawil
Newton County Texas
The land, on which this cemetery is located, was donated by the Pleasant Barclay Davis Jr. family. It is now an Incorporated Cemetery and is one of the most well kept cemeteries I have seen. On April 2, 2005 when Floyd, Bobee, Alricks and I visited the cemetery and attended the business meeting, I was so happy to know my family was buried there. I left feeling secure about their final resting place and so decided to construct this website as a tribute to all my family and friends who are resting there in such a quiet and peaceful setting. This is what I hope will be a complete list of names of every person buried in the Davis Cemetery in Fawil, Texas. I have included a few names of those who are buried in unmarked graves. I do personally know those named are buried there. I also am endeavoring to include the names of the parents of as many of these people as is possible. In doing this I am putting families together which has been puzzling to me for as long as I can remember. It is difficult work but I’m having the time of my life.

Bonnie Jones Smith called my attention to an interesting attraction in the Davis Cemetery. I had seen it on my last visit but had forgotten to mention it in this listing of the cemetery.
Under the four cedar trees, is a Memorial Bench to Winfield Moore AKA Davis and Nancy Belcher Moore-Davis .They have bronze plaques denoting they were citizens of the Republic of Texas. The plaques were placed there by the Daughters of the Republic of Texas.
